19-inch rack and enclosure fabrication is precision sheet metal work built to a customer’s dimensioned print rather than a stock catalog — the racks, networking cabinets, and control panel enclosures that house electronic and data-center hardware. Nevatronix Sheet Metal builds these to print for OEMs, systems integrators, and contract assemblers, with forming, welding, hardware insertion, powder coat, and assembly under one roof; the electronics that go inside, and any panel listing on top of the enclosure, stay with the customer.
What do we build for electronics and server-cabinet programs?
Rack and enclosure work spans a narrow but demanding part family: flat, precisely located sheet metal that has to assemble square every time. Across a program we fabricate:
- 19-inch EIA-310 racks. Frames, rails, and side panels built to your dimensioned print rather than a stock catalog spacing.
- Rack-mount chassis and drawers. Formed sheet metal chassis for equipment that mounts inside the rack.
- Networking and telecom cabinets. Full-height enclosures with vented doors and cable management features.
- Control panel enclosures. Wall-mount and floor-mount NEMA-rated enclosures, built to print.
- Vented door panels and side-skins. Louvered or perforated panels for airflow, punched to your open-area callout.
- Cable management features. Raceways, finger ducts, and grommet cutouts formed and punched into the enclosure.
- EMI/RFI gasket-channel panels and doors. Formed gasket landing features and continuous seam welds where a shielding print calls for them.
We do not build switchgear or listed electrical panel assemblies. Those belong with a panel shop rather than a metal fabricator; we supply the fabricated enclosure they go into.
What tolerances do rack and enclosure parts need?
Rack and panel fits are unforgiving because doors, rails, and side panels have to line up without hand-fitting on the install floor. Bend position holds ±0.1 mm on our press brake cells, and hole and feature position holds ±0.1 mm on the 32-station CNC turret punch. Feature-to-feature tolerance on cut and punched parts holds to our standard ±0.002 in, verified at first-article inspection — see the sheet metal tolerance reference for how that compares across processes.
Which materials and finishes hold up in a data hall?
Enclosures in this vertical run mostly cold-rolled and galvanized steel, aluminum for lighter chassis, and stainless where the finish is on display — the same gauge and material stack as the rest of our sheet metal work. Forming stays well inside our standard envelope of mild steel to 8 mm, stainless to 6 mm, and aluminum to 10 mm, so a heavier equipment stand or a light cosmetic door panel both run on the same brake. Finishing runs in-house: powder coat on a 24-hour turn with data-center black (RAL 9005) stocked among 40-plus standard colors, and a custom RAL or Pantone match adding roughly 5 business days on lots over 100 parts. For enclosures carrying an EMI/RFI shielding print, we form gasket channels and continuous seam welds to the callout and mask conductive-finish areas before coating — the robotic welding cell holds weld placement identical across a production run of frames and doors.

We fabricate and finish the enclosure; we do not populate or wire it. Nevatronix Sheet Metal is a UL-listed shop, but we hold no UL 508A listing, and what we build is the NEMA-rated custom enclosure to your print — cut, formed, welded, hardware-inserted, and finished, ready for your panel builder or integrator to populate. Do you assemble and test the finished cabinet?
Yes. Our four assembly bays handle chassis build-out, PEM hardware insertion, panel and door installation, basic wiring harness routing, and label or serial application, with 100% functional test on electro-mechanical assemblies before packout. Daily packout capacity runs 300 to 500 units, kitted and labeled to ship direct to your dock or your customer’s — one shipment, one invoice, no inter-shop hand-off between fabrication and finished cabinet.
How fast can you turn a rack program, and at what volume?
Run sizes span 1 to 50,000 units, from a single prototype rack to full production release. Every production order gets a first-article inspection, and lot traceability runs through a MIE Trak Pro ERP, so a mid-program revision is controlled rather than lost in the run.
